Completed at the end of my DSAA program, my research thesis examines handwriting from various perspectives : the history of how it is learned, its norms, and its social and academic implications. This work also explores our fascination with handwriting : where does it come from, and how does it manifest itself ? Furthermore, I wondered what were the graphic objectives of its use in communication, graphic design, and advertising? Finally, the thesis examines the concept of objectification and the rationalization of writing through graphology and forensic handwriting analysis. How do these practices differ, and on what are they based ?
